Speech reps,
scored on the spot.
Practice your speech between club meetings. Get feedback for your event, your own words quoted as evidence, and a concrete fix for the next run, then redo just that fix and hear what changed.
Start with a free event-specific drill: Extemporaneous Speaking · Original Oratory · Impromptu Speaking · Informative Speaking.
What’s in the pass
- Draw & Speak — Draw a question, prepare, then speak on the clock.
Included practice families
UIL A+ Impromptu — Draw three topics, keep one. Three minutes to prepare, then up to five to speak — no notes. Finish the sentence, then prove it with a story the room will remember.
Impromptu — Draw three prompts, keep one. Prep and speech share one clock: a thesis, two or three real examples, a landing.
Extemp — Draw a current-events question. Prep with your own sources, then answer it directly in up to seven minutes with two or three cited reasons.
- Prepared Speech & Presentation — Run your own writing, fix one thing, and run it again.
Included practice families
Original Oratory — Your own speech, run in full. Every run is scored on the writing and the delivery, checked against your script for dropped sections, and timed against the cap. Edit the script and the curve marks the new version.
Informative Speaking — Your own speech that teaches one idea, run in full: scored on the writing and the delivery, checked against your script, timed against the cap.
Expository — A five-minute original speech that explains one idea, run in full and checked against your script.
- A score curve per event: every scored rep, in order, so you can see whether the fix took. Edit your Oratory script and the curve marks the new version.
- Redo just the fix: after a rep, try the one improvement again on the same prompt, up to three times, and see what changed.
- Up to 4 scored reps a day. Recordings are kept 90 days, then deleted; scores stay.
How a season goes
Set your main event, next tournament date and first practice focus. Aim for three focused reps in your first week: record, listen back, make one change, repeat. Use your school coach for the questions practice can’t answer, and allow a rest day before competition.
What it is not: live coaching, or teaching you the content of your event. If you want a coach in the room every week, that’s Future Voices.
Before you buy
Who is this for?
Middle schoolers (grades 5–8) who compete in speech — or are joining a club this season — and want reps between practices. It assumes you already know what Impromptu or Extemp is. A student who has never spoken in front of a room starts better in Future Voices.
Which leagues and events?
Middle-school speech on NSDA rules: Impromptu, Original Oratory, Informative, Expository and Mixed Extemp. If your league's rules differ — Massachusetts (MMSSL), Texas (UIL A+ Impromptu Speaking) or Southern California (SCJFL) so far — pick it at checkout and its rules and ballot take over. High school, FBLA and DECA aren't offered right now.
Is the score a real judge's score?
No. It is AI feedback on your transcript and measured delivery (pace, fillers and pauses), using the selected event's practice criteria. It cannot see eye contact or posture. Use the report to choose a next step, redo just that fix, and compare your own reps.
Can a parent see progress?
Yes. A parent listed on the pass can sign in with their own email at /prep/progress to see practice counts and the next focus, and to make the link that keeps your child's device signed in. Recordings and scripts are not included in this summary.
What if it's not for me?
Full refund within 7 days of purchase as long as fewer than 3 reps have been scored. Reply to the pass email.
Do I need an account?
No password, and your child doesn't need an email. A parent buys; the setup email carries a link that keeps your child's laptop or tablet signed in for the season. If the student has their own email, they can also sign in on other devices with a 6-digit code.
Is this affiliated with the NSDA?
Event Prep is an independent practice product by Augmind Studio, not affiliated with or endorsed by NSDA, MMSSL, MSDL, FBLA, DECA or any league. Event names describe compatibility. Options labeled official-sheet aligned use the published sheet's observable items and point values; the band descriptions, feedback and cases are our own. Other options use event-specific or general practice rubrics as labeled. Visual performance, team coordination, written submissions and objective exams are not assessed. Check your tournament's current guidelines; any unverified timing is labeled as a practice default.
